Paul Richardson has worked on many successful projects across the region. Here are a selection of
references from previous clients:
From Alan and Jean Hessel, Feb 2008
Project: House extension, Upper Brailes, Banbury, Oxfordshire
"Faced with the daunting task of uprating and enlarging an ugly 1930's extension on a period
stone house, we sought the expertise of Mr Paul Richardson. Where previous attempts by others to
overcome some difficult design problems had failed, Paul's were a success.
He saw his designs through the planning and listed building stage, and a builder was engaged by us.
When deviations from the specifications were made Paul was on hand to ensure the build was put back
on the right track. Once our extension was complete he was an enormous help in sorting out the variations
and their impact on the finances.
Our attractive new extension blends well with the old house, has increased its value and given our
property a new dimension with useable and comfortable living space. We are very pleased with the end
result and have no hesitation in recommending Paul."
From Michael and Wendy Russell, Feb 2008
Project: Various extensions and a new Summerhouse, Taynton, Burford, Oxfordshire
"Paul Richardson has carried out several extension and new building projects at our home in the past
few years. He has created the architectural designs while taking our preferences into account, obtained planning
permissions, called for tenders with the specifications and drawings, awarded the contracts with our concurrence,
and supervised the work of the contractors during the periods of construction. He has always been courteous,
thorough and meticulous in his work. We fully recommend Paul Richardson as a project architect."
From Michael Haas, Feb 2008
Project: Various extensions and alterations, Kineton, Gloucestershire
"Paul Richardson has carried out a number of alterations to our home in Gloucestershire. It is a modern
building that has been built in the traditional 'Cotswold style'. Paul has therefore been scrupulous in
maintaining its intrinsic design with the surrounding architecture. He has been extremely helpful in
suggestions that have made our alternations even more useful than we anticipated. He is also extremely
creative and versatile in making the most contemporary solutions integrate attractively with the pre-existing
building. He is attentive to detail and exacting in requirements and has always been able to provide the best
advice and support throughout the many, varying phases, including taking careful account of final results long
after work is completed. His combination of skills and talents has made him a valuable partner for us
throughout all of our various building works."
From Dr T C Goodhead, March 2008
Project: New house, Combrook, Warwickshire
"I chose Paul Richardson to design my self build house after meeting with several architects, most of whom
were keen to tell me what they thought I should build rather than listen to what I actually wanted. Paul was
prepared to work with the brief but was able to propose many innovations and enhancements that added considerably
to the original specification. In particular, since this was a new building in a conservation area, it was very
important that it blended well with the surrounding properties while not pretending to be something that it was not.
Paul was able to use his knowledge of the vernacular architecture to specify materials and incorporate design details
that harmonised with the locality without simply duplicating styles found in surrounding buildings. This resulted in a
design that was applauded by the Parish Council and had a smooth passage through the planning system which Paul
handled efficiently and professionally."
From Sarah Bourne Swinton Hunter, March 2008
Project: Several extensions to house nr Shipston on Stour Warwickshire
"Paul Richardson demonstrated his flair for design when he took on the project of altering and extending
our house which he did with great imagination and ingenuity. He designed a music room (now the most heavily-used
room in the house) which benefited from a solid roof of old slate, wooden floor with under-floor heating and
multiple doors opening onto the patio with Greek theatre style seating for the audience. At the same time he
designed a side wing of the house, giving us an elegant dining room in place of the garage, with bathroom and
bedroom above. He improved the front aspect of our house with a highly practical porch, full of cupboard space,
over which he designed a child’s bedroom with cosy eaves which my youngest daughter loves.
Paul took immense care over this project and concerned himself conscientiously over even the smallest detail.
He supervised the building work with diplomatic efficiency and we were delighted with the finished result."
